by andi song · under announcements · on Wednesday November 7, 2007Update (Tuesday 11/13): Here are some photos of the affected areas. Roads have literally disappeared.

Supplies have been purchased and sent to local churches for distribution within the communities. Next week. our brother Mario Matos will be making another trip to help with home repair and recovery.
Update (Sunday 11/7):
Cornerstone collected just over $1000 today in support of relief efforts. This amount will be combined with a World Missions department donation to send a total of $2000 to the Dominican Republic for the purchase of materials to rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Noel.
Reconstruction will be primarily in the batey (Haitian immigrant community) of Barahona, one of the towns we have visited in past years.
We thank you for your generosity and support of our ministry partners in the DR. Please continue to pray for the families that have been displaced because of the storm, and for a quick recovery.
Hurricane Noel tore through the Caribbean region just a couple weeks ago, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The Dominican Republic and Haiti bore the brutal brunt of its power, leaving many dead and more without homes. Our friends in the Dominican Republic are requesting our help.
This Sunday, we will be taking a special collection for hurricane victims in need of immediate shelter and relief. Please pray for the people affected by this tragedy and consider a donation to restore and rebuild.
